It is way too often were I bake sweet potato fries and they came out soft and soggy. Does that happen to you? I love crispy fries, so I am going to share with you how to make your sweet potato fries crispy and delicious.
The key is to coat your sweet potatoes with starch- such as corn, tapioca, arrowroot, potato starch. Starch is known to absorb moisture which will lend to the crispy texture.
Ok, lets get started. You need the following ingredients
- 2 large Sweet Potatoes, sliced into fries- I find the thinner the slices the better
- 1 tbsp Arrowroot or corn starch
- 1/2 tsp Sea or Himalayan Salt
- 1/2 tsp of onion powder (optional for added flavor)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Toss the sliced sweet potatoes in the arrowroot or corn starch, make sure they are evenly coated. Add the avocado, sea salt and continue tossing
- Line the sweet potato cuts on parchment paper, making sure they are evenly spaced out and not touching.
- Bake for about 18 minutes then remove and flip the fries on the other side. Bake for another 18 minutes. Keep an eye out to avoid burning the fries.
- Remove from the oven. Toss with onion powder. Serve with a favorite dip of your choice and bon appetite!
